We understand that visiting hospital can be a stressful and worrying time but we are here to support you throughout your journey. Wehave a range of resources for you to read at your convenience to help put your mind at ease.

Visitor Information

During your stay in hospital, we understand it is important for your loved ones to visit. St Joseph’s Hospital has the highest standard of infection control, and work hard to continuously keep patients and staff safe.

We are pleased to welcome any two visitors per day between 11am and 8pm. We advise the visit should be a maximum of 1 hour to fit in with your recovery and physiotherapy / nursing requirements. If visiting is required outside of these hours, it is to be discussed with the nursing team.

We kindly ask you avoid visitors prior to your surgery as this time is required for preparation. Please also aviod during your meal times to allow our catering team to serve you.

Recovery & aftercare

Once your consultant is happy for you to leave hospital, we will ensure that you have all the information you need to return home. We aim to discharge you by 9.30am and ask that you have arranged your transport home to ensure you have a smooth transition. Our team will discuss medication, pain relief, wound care, and any other questions you may have before you leave. Once you are home if you have any concerns, you can call our team at any time. You will also have a follow-up appointment and on some occasions, physiotherapy, where our team can check on your recovery.
