St Joseph’s Hospital completes the final stage in its refurbishment

Date Posted: 13th March 2023

Over the past two years St Joseph’s Hospital have been working on refurbishing their ward and theatre space. The project has taken part in two phases and finally came to a close in January 2023.

The ward rooms have not been updated for many years and have now achieved a high-end hotel standard whilst matching the latest healthcare compliance standards. The rooms across the two wards; St Patrick and St Andrews, all include built in light-up mirrors, Dyson hair dryers, built in blinds, as well as all the correct equipment the nursing staff and consultants require to care for patients during their stay. In total the ward refurbishment has included a £2.1m investment.

St Andrew’s nursing station has been updated and is now a fully-functioning base for the nursing staff to use. St Patricks’ nursing station will be updated in due course to reflect the same standard.

The main theatres have also been refurbished over the two phases with all-new engineering infrastructure, new ultra-clean ventilation canopies, new operating lights, cladded walls, and touch screen surgeons’ panels. The total refurbishment for theatres has been a £2m investment over the two phrases.

St Joseph’s Hospital are delighted with the upgrade and are now in a fantastic position with operating space and patient rooms reflecting the highest standard. Patients and staff alike have commented on the refurbishment and are thrilled to see the final results of the two year refurbishment project.

A special thanks to the principal contractor, FP Hurley, who were appointed for all the projects over the two year period.
