Professional bio

Mr Bennett is a Consultant Urologist based in the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. He completed his undergraduate training at Cardiff University. Mr Bennett's core surgical and specialty urology training was completed in Wales with added experience in the South West and South East of England.

The main areas of interest are urological oncology, undertaking radical cystectomy for bladder cancer and open radical nephrectomy for large renal tumours. Mr Bennett is an active member of the urology MDT and manages all other urology cancers. He is also the department lead for general paediatric surgery undertaking circumcision, orchidopexy for undescended testes and groin surgery for hydroceles/hernias.

Working in a busy secondary care hospital Mr Bennett also manages patients with bothersome urinary symptoms, urinary tract stone disease and infection and all other aspects of general and emergency urology.

Research Interests

In 2019, Mr Bennett completed a post graduate research doctorate in prostate cancer management. He is currently involved in recruitment to kidney cancer trials.

Personal Profile

When not in work Mr Bennett is at home relaxing with his wife and three young sons!

He is passionate about sport, and in particular rugby. Having played to a high standard, Mr Bennett now enjoys helping coach his sons mini-junior teams on a Sunday morning.
