REZUM

This is a minimally invasive and gentle 'day case' operative means of treating benign enlargement of the prostate which is causing symptoms of difficulty with urination. This typically causes a slow urinary stream and a feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder. It can be accompanied by complications such as urinary tract infection and the need to urinate frequently at night. As seen in the video (youtube link ore refer to below treatment videos) steam is accurately injected into the enlarged parts of the prostate. Over time the steam causes the prostate tissue to shrink and to open up the channel through which you pee. Whilst waiting for the swelling to reduce a small soft catheter is kept in place which is easily manageable until it can be removed a week or so later depending on prostate size.
