Professional bio

Mrs Vij is a consultant sub-specialist Urogynaecologist at Singleton Hospital, Swansea along with working as private gynaecologist at St Joseph Hospital, Newport and Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea.

Mrs Vij received qualification in India and obtained postgraduate training with a Masters, in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before moving to the UK. Mrs Vij underwent structured postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the UK as well. Mrs Vij completed extensive training in general Gynaecology, as well as advanced (sub-specialisation) in Urogynaecology in the UK for managing complex prolapses and urinary incontinence.

 
She is also interested in research and had written thesis on “Central Sensitivity Syndromes and pelvic organ Prolapse.” This allowed her to understand complex issue of central sensitisation and thus able to manage needs of patients with central sensitisation and pelvic floor disorders. She as authored over 25 publications, written book chapters. 

She is the training programme director of the sub-speciality training in urogynaecology in Wales as well as vice chair of the BSUG governance committee. She regularly audit her outcome data, infection, readmission, and complication rates in order to provide quality care. She believes in a patient-focused, supportive and honest consultation to enable patients to make informed decisions on their treatment options. This was evident in her 360-degree feedback from the patients. 


She has been deemed as professional, empathetic, understanding and kind by the patients and have received several thank you cards from them. Her main interest are: prolapse, urinary incontinence, recurrent UTI, mesh complications, pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, menorrhagia and menopause.
