Professional bio

Mr Jewsbury is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. He specialises in Cataract surgery, Strabismus (squints), Neuro-Ophthalmology and Paediatric Ophthalmology.

He graduated from Southampton University in 2006 obtaining a distinction in his medical degree and a 1st Class Honours degree in Biomedical Sciences. He completed his general medical training in Bath. 

Mr Jewsbury has specialised in ophthalmology for 15 years and undertook his ophthalmic training in Wales in 2013, obtaining the award ‘Senior Trainee of The Year’, across all medical specialities.

He completed a world renowned fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

He is actively involved in both national and international research focused on neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus. He trains specialist registrars in cataract and strabismus surgery.

Mr Jewsbury is the Royal College of Ophthalmology tutor at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, he is responsible for the training of ophthalmology specialist registrars. He is also an accredited examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
