Professional bio

Dr James Cullen trained at Trinity College Cambridge, then University of Cambridge Clinical School, Addenbrooke’s Hospital. HO posts in Cambridge. SHO in London and QMC University Hospital Nottingham   Date of Qualification: MB BChir 1989 (with Distinction). CCST in Cardiology 2000 MD 2000 FRCP 2008   Postgraduate Cardiology training at University of Leicester Department of Cardiology at Glenfield Hospital Leicester, a nationally and internationally recognised high volume PCI centre.   

First Consultant appointment in 2000 based in Kettering and Glenfield. Developed new PCI services and 24 hour Primary Angioplasty services at Kettering NHS Foundation Trust which now serves the whole of Northamptonshire and is 1000 case per year unit.   Moved to Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport in January 2011 for family reasons and to set up the new PCI services for Aneurin Bevan Health Board at the RGH site.   

Extensive experience (11 years as Consultant) in NHS and Private Cardiology.

General cardiology: Heart rhythm disturbances, palpitations, atrial fibrillation. Hypertension and Hyperlipidaemia. Valvular Heart Disease and murmurs. Heart Failure. Syncope and pacing.
