Leading private healthcare provider, St Joseph’s Hospital in Newport, has been named as an official sponsor of Dragons RFC for the upcoming 2025/26 rugby season.

The £3,000 sponsorship package will see the hospital’s brand displayed on LED lights, and allow players to gain access to the latest diagnostics technology and physiotherapy services.

To be unveiled at the first game of the season against Scarlets at Dragons RFC’s home turf of Rodney Parade, on 13th September, the sponsorship banner will bring St Joseph’s Hospital to the heart of the Newport sporting community.

The award-winning private hospital has a long history of supporting athletes and sports enthusiasts, providing diagnostic scans in state-of-the-art suites for players of local and national teams, including Wales Rugby Union players, alongside physiotherapy and hydrotherapy services.

Dragon’s RFC was founded in 2003 and has fostered local talent at its Centre of Sporting Excellence training ground since 2014. The team’s ambitions for continuous development and dedication to excellence - while supporting local community initiatives - aligns with St Joseph’s Hospital’s strategic goals to implement the latest healthcare innovations and develop as a patient-first organisation serving Newport and the surrounding regions.

Name, from Dragons RFC, said: “We are delighted to welcome St Joseph’s Hospital as an official sponsor for Dragons RFC. Our commercial partnerships play a vital role in supporting Dragons RFC to thrive, and we are proud to display a local business’ name at our home matches. We hope this is the start of a long and successful partnership with one of Wales’ leading private hospitals.”

Stuart Hammond, CEO of St Joseph’s Hospital, said: “As a proudly Newport-based business, we are thrilled to sponsor our local team. Like St Joseph’s Hospital, Dragons RFC strives to achieve excellence in their field. We hope this sponsorship demonstrates our support for the team, our encouragement of their journey, and highlights all we can offer for players and their families and supporters: access to quality, private healthcare without the wait.”
