Job Summary
To work as part of a team providing a high-quality and varied catering service to patients, visitors and staff. Working at all times within the guidelines included in the Catering Operational Procedures and the departments HACCP.
Key Responsibilities
• Working as part of a team assisting in the service and preparation of all catering requirements. This will include the delivery and service to ward patients, functions/hospitality and customers in the cafe. There will be some preparation and service of food within the kitchen and restaurant when required.
• Working as part of a team ensuring that all required duties are up to date and that all duties are carried out on a regular basis as directed, in line with the departmental task sheets.
• To be able to work effectively as part of a team and be able to adopt a flexible approach to how and when duties are undertaken whilst ensuring that all service users are the focal point of activities.
• Working as part of a team, be able to prioritise activity to ensure that a quality service is provided.
• To assist in the service of food and drinks to patients and visitors and staff.
• To keep the Main and Ward kitchen, food trolley and all areas hygienically clean and have a complete understanding and awareness of the statutory food safety regulations.
• To always work within the Health & Safety guidelines set out in the Catering Operational Procedures and HACCP.
• To maintain an effective system of communication with the Catering Supervisor and Hotel Services Manager.
• To assist in daily, weekly, monthly cleaning tasks to ensure the Main and Ward Kitchen is hygienically clean.
• To assist with the carrying out of food safety monitoring.
• To report any maintenance requirements immediately to the Catering Supervisor and Hotel Services Manager.
• To report any building/infrastructure defects to the Estates Helpdesk.
Person Specification
The following specification represents the range of skills, abilities, and experiences etc. relevant to the position. Applicants are expected to meet the attributes that have been identified as essential.
Essential
• Maths and English GCSE
• Knowledge of food safety systems, HACCP, and dealing with Allergens
• Knowledge of COSHH
• Evidence of delivering a high level of customer service
• Evidence of good literacy skills and the ability to understand instructions, guidance, policies and procedures
• Evidence of experience of working and contributing in a team
• Proven ability to manage own workload and prioritise when there are competing priorities
Desirable
• Level 2 award in food safety or equivalent
• FSA food allergy Training
• Relevant experience of working in a catering environment
• Basic level of Food preparation
