Job Summary:

To assist with the clinical responsibilities pertaining to the everyday organisation and efficient running of the physiotherapy service, including inpatient on a weekend rota.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for assisting in prioritising patient referrals, allocating and organising the work of colleagues and assistant staff to meet service priorities on a daily basis.

• You will be responsible for organising and planning your own caseload to meet service and patient priorities.

• You will ensure the provision of a comprehensive physiotherapy service, ensuring that all treatments and interventions are of a consistently high standard, evidence informed and patient focused.

• You will adopt a flexible and participative approach to innovation and change and promote patient’s individuality and dignity at all times.

• You will formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on sound knowledge of treatment skills.

• You will formulate accurate prognoses and, using a collaborative approach, recommend best course of intervention; developing comprehensive patient centred objectives and plans.

Person Specification:

The following specification represents the range of skills, abilities and experiences etc. relevant to the position. Applicants are expected to meet the attributes that have been identified as essential.

Essential:

• Qualified to a minimum degree level in Physiotherapy (BSc Physiotherapy)

• MCSP or equivalent.

• Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered.

• Relevant experience in treating patients within outpatient, inpatient and pre-assessment settings.

• Excellent communication skills, communicating with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Advanced, updated CPD evidence.

• To formulate, develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes based upon evidence-based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning. 

• To communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and treatment, providing the patient with good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential. Patients may have a barrier to communication e.g., English as their second language. 

Desirable:

• Postgraduate experience of minimum 3 years.

• Completion of a comprehensive core rotation programme including all major specialties (Orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, neurology, trauma, ITU, MSK outpatients and intermediate care) at senior grade level.
