Job title: Senior Accounts Payable Officer

Department: Finance

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week

Responsible to: Finance Manager

Job Summary

The post holder will join the busy Finance team, being responsible for the Purchase Ledger function, ensuring that all invoices are processed and suppliers paid and queries resolved in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Purchase Ledger function from end to end.

• Ensure that all purchase invoices are processed promptly and accurately.

• Raise queries and liaise with relevant departments and suppliers as necessary.

• Ensure that the correct authorisation process is followed before releasing invoices for payment.

• Manage weekly and ad-hoc supplier payment runs.

• Reconcile all supplier statements monthly.

• Undertake monthly aged creditor review.

• Prepare monthly accruals and prepayments.

• Evaluate current practices and advise on process improvements.

• Develop and train staff.

• Facilitate the efficient delivery of internal financial reporting, including departmental performance KPI’s.

• Ensure the finance department provides an excellent internal and external service.

• The role will involve internal stakeholder communication as well as external stakeholder communication; you will therefore be adept at communicating with all levels of people.

Essential

• Experience in a similar purchase ledger role.

• Proactive individual with strong attention to detail and the confidence to question and flag potential issues.

• Accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable

• AAT / Part Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA) / Qualified by Experience

• Excellent advanced Excel skills
