A mammogram is an x-ray taken of the breasts, with specialised equipment, that is designed to show breast tissue in fine detail. The breasts are compressed between the platform and a clear perspex paddle, to achieve the best quality images, and uses the minimum dose of radiation. This may be a little uncomfortable, but is just for a few seconds each time.
