Registered Nurse - Pre-operative Assessment

St Joseph’s Hospital is looking for an experienced, flexible, and forward-thinking Staff Nurse to join the Pre-operative Assessment team.

A dedicated, flexible, and committed approach is essential, along with a focused and proactive attitude to the development of the team.

Working alongside the existing pre-assessment team you will be responsible for ensuring the right standard of care is provided to all patients at all times and ensure that they receive a comprehensive and quality service. 

You will have an innate ability to quickly identify any pre-surgery concerns or possible complications that could arise and work to ensure that patients are at optimum health when admitted for surgery.

Assessments are undertaken on a daily basis either face to face or over the phone ensuring all required documentation is completed. 

As the Pre-assessment Nurse, you will work closely with other departments within the hospital to ensure that all aspects of the patients' surgery and admission to hospital are adequately organised.

Key Responsibilities 

Proven surgical experience is required with pre-assessment experience, as well as flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team.

You will manage your own caseload using your clinical judgement to ensure fitness for surgery and anaesthetic for all types of procedures. 

You will be responsible for obtaining, checking and taking action on all required pre-operative investigations and liaising with the clinical lead and wider multi-disciplinary team.

Have the ability to fully understand each patient's needs and provide individual attention.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are essential to ensure a safe, effective and compassionate service. 

Ability to work to deadlines and cope with a fast turnover of patients in order to support the commitment to a timely surgical admission.

•    The post holder’s duties will at all times, be carried out in compliance with Hospital policies and procedures. •    Staff may be required to work in any department to meet the needs of the service, with potentially variable patterns of work that may include weekend working.
•    The post-holder must at all times respect the confidentiality of information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and ensure compliance with associated legislative and Hospital policy. 

Qualifications, Training and Experience 

•    Registration with the appropriate Governing body and the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration

•    Post-registration qualification desirable

•    Ability to work independently

•    Experience in the interpretation of ECG readings and pathology reports

•    Proficient in phlebotomy  

•    Has excellent communication skills at all levels and is computer literate

•    Has a reflective approach to own work and work of others and is able to advise accordingly

•    Is able to contribute to the development of policy and procedure and be able to undertake audit and implement the subsequent change of practice as required

•    Has in-depth insight and understanding of national and local standards, legislation, and recognised good practice

Registered Nurse

St Joseph's Hospital is looking for experienced, flexible, and forward-thinking Registered Nurses to join our brand new Day Surgery Unit.

We care for patients from the age of 16 years and above undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. 

Surgical experience is desirable but training will be given for the right candidate.

A dedicated, flexible, and caring approach is essential in ensuring the team delivers the highest standards of clinical care.

The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, support the team members, and take responsibility for their continuing professional development.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified nurse to join the team at St Joseph's Hospital.

Registered Nurse

St Joseph’s Hospital is looking for an experienced, flexible, and forward-thinking Registered Nurse to join their ward team.

A dedicated, flexible, and committed approach is essential, along with a focused and proactive attitude to the development of the team.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a similar multi-skilled role and will have exceptional communication skills.

Working closely with the senior staff and multi-disciplinary team members, the post holder will take an active role in ensuring the service delivers the highest standards of clinical care. 

The post holder will be a registered nurse with experience in caring for surgical patients. Experience on the ward is not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate. 

The post holder will take responsibility for their own continuing professional development and will support their fellow team members to develop in line with the theatre department's annual training plan.
