St Joseph’s is proud to provide you with a patient support service which we believe is unique and for which there is no charge.
Your patient journey at St Joseph’s Hospital will generally start with a referral by your GP to see one of our consultants. Your consultant may decide that you need to undertake some diagnostic procedures, or you may be offered an appointment for an in-patient procedure. Either way you will be contacted by our Patient Support Sister or one of her team. Jane Evans is a senior nursing sister with 30 years' experience and her role is to answer your questions, address your concerns and prepare you for your treatment.
We fully understand that going into hospital for an operation or procedure is highly stressful and a great deal of the stress is caused by fear of the unknown. Jane and her team will help you to prepare properly ahead of your appointment, answer your questions, meet you when you arrive on the day of your appointment and give you the care you need to ease your anxiety. Her team will keep relatives informed of progress and they will be there for you throughout your aftercare.
Our patient support service was highly commended in the 2016 South Wales Chamber of Commerce Welsh Business Awards within the Commitment to Customer Service category. We are immensely proud of our Patient Support team and all involved in the patient journey at St Joseph's Hospital.
St Joseph’s also provides a concierge service to manage any other problems you may have. Transport to and from the hospital can be arranged at reasonable costs.
We can organise flowers from loved ones, meals for relatives left at home and support for you at discharge. Something you have forgotten to bring or do before you left home? We can help.
The St Joseph’s healthcare doesn’t stop at the time that you are discharged…it continues until your recovery is complete.
If you are worried or concerned about anything come back and see us, at no extra cost.
Your recovery and rehabilitation will be supported, both before and after surgery, by our team of expert physiotherapists. They will work with you, providing advice on pain management and the best exercises to follow to gain the best outcomes.
We believe that St Joseph’s should be providing an end-to-end healthcare experience, which assists your preparation for treatment, steers you through your treatment with the least possible anxiety and in your aftercare period we work with you to achieve complete recovery at the earliest point. That is what we regard as 'bespoke' care.
