Stomach, bowel & bladder problems

The UrgentCare Centre provides treatment for a wide range of stomach, bowel, liver, kidney and bladder problems.  We have access to over 160 specialists and once our initial investigations and treatments are completed we can arrange the most appropriate next step – either reassurance, GP follow-up, specialist review or urgent admission to the appropriate district general hospital for more specialist imaging, treatment or surgery if required.

At the UrgentCare Centre we can deal with a variety of issues within this category – we are happy to see anyone over the age of 6 years with any non-life threatening symptoms related to their digestive system or urinary tract.

Some of the common abdominal symptoms our patients present with include:

  • abdominal pain
  • bloating
  • nausea and vomiting
  • diarrhoea and constipation
  • fevers (except in young children who are fitting)
  • jaundice
  • loss of appetite
  • rectal bleeding

Some of the common urinary issues include:

  • pain on passing urine (dysuria)
  • haematuria (blood in the urine)
  • increased urinary frequency or urgency
  • urinary retention or poor urinary flow
  • lower back/loin/kidney pain

A typical visit to our centre will include a detailed history and examination from the medical team who will then perform or arrange the required urgent tests, such as urine dip, blood test and imaging – such as ultrasound, x-ray, CT or MRI scan.  If your condition is found to be more serious we can arrange referral to the appropriate specialist.  If an emergency this can be arranged on the same day.

Some of the common conditions we regularly see are:

  • appendicitis
  • hepatitis
  • diverticulitis
  • reflux and stomach ulcers
  • gallstones
  • haemorrhoids
  • urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • prostate problems
  • kidney stones
  • irritable bowel syndrome
