With over 20 highly qualified orthopaedic specialists including many of the most qualified consultants in Wales and the South West of England, we undertake over 2,000 orthopaedic procedures a year, with excellent results.
St Joseph’s is renowned for the quality of the care we provide, and the friendly warm nature of our staff, together with our 5 Star service and environment. All of that is exemplified in our Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence, where we maintain the St Joseph’s ethos of providing our patients with a bespoke service specifically suited to their needs and focussed upon the fastest possible route to full recovery and rehabilitation.
St Joseph’s Orthopaedic Centre is fully integrated with our Centre for Advanced Diagnostics and our Centre for Clinical Physiotherapy where our consultants are able to work with our leading specialist physiotherapists to design a programme suited to you personally, using state-of-the-art equipment and our hydrotherapy pool to steer your successful recovery.
All of our orthopaedic procedures are conducted in our two modern laminar flow operating theatres, designed specifically to reduce the risks of infection. At St Joseph’s we place a very high emphasis on the eradication of infection risk and our statistics are excellent in that regard.
The St Joseph’s Centre of Excellence for Orthopaedic Care also operates a unique partnership with Zimmer-Biomet, the leading manufacturer of state-of-the-art joint implants with a proven track record for quality and longevity which are tailored to the patient’s personal requirements. An integral part of the partnership enables St Joseph’s Hospital to offer orthopaedic patients the Rapid Recovery Programme developed to specifically produce the best and fastest rehabilitation from surgery.
The St Joseph’s Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence offers the following services:
Our Rapid Recovery Programme is delivered in partnership with Zimmer-Biomet and is only available in South Wales and the South West of England through St Joseph’s Hospital.
The programme has produced very significant improvements in the time patients take to reach full recovery and rehabilitation.
St Joseph’s Centre for Advanced Diagnostics provides the most advanced orthopaedic imaging and interventional treatment centre in Wales and the South West of England.
At St Joseph’s we offer patients with shoulder pain rapid access to our shoulder clinic and our team of outstanding surgeons.
We offer world leading diagnostic capability with a focus upon avoiding intervention whenever possible.
Arthritis is the most common cause of orthopaedic problems for patients. The cause of arthritis is not known, but fortunately it can be treated to minimise pain and restore mobility.
Sports injuries are also common cause of orthopaedic pain and discomfort, which can be treated by physiotherapy, injections and in severe cases by remedial surgery. St Joseph’s is a leading centre for Sports Medicine.
